The Philanthropy Fellowship

The Philanthropy Fellowship is a forum for a diverse range of individuals with a shared passion for philanthropy to meet, exchange knowledge and learning, share best practice, discuss and debate social issues and concerns and to enhance their philanthropy by targeting their giving to make the greatest difference.

Coordinated by the Community Foundations, the Fellowship offers a range of events and activities to meet Fellows’ requests and expectations and delivers a quality programme that encourages learning, challenges perceptions and motivates people to contribute in whatever way they can – giving their time, making monetary donations or offering their skills or knowledge to support others.

Each meeting is based on a key topic, issue or community aspiration and guest speakers or experts working in particular fields are invited to share their views and experiences to ensure Fellows are receiving current, detailed and ‘real’ information.

Currently, Fellows are individuals from a variety of backgrounds – solicitors firms, wealth and investment management organisations, local universities, event managers, CSR practitioners and community leaders. If an individual is passionate about philanthropy and wants to make a difference locally, is prepared to participate, has the means to contribute and the ability to influence others they are welcome to enquire about joining the Philanthropy Fellowship.

In order to enhance the sustainability of the Fellowship, Fellows are asked to make an annual donation of £120 from 2016. This contributes towards the costs of administration as well as the delivery of the yearly programme and any other ad hoc events or opportunities that may arise.

“I see the Fellowship as a forum for learning about social issues; for sharing ideas about how, through collaboration, some of those issues can be alleviated and for spreading the word about philanthropy, casting aside any notions that it is the preserve of a wealthy few.” - Philip Rooney, DLA Piper
