As Chief Executive, I have overall responsibility for the strategic development, financial management and performance of the Foundation. Developing and building sustainable relationships with existing and potential donors, community groups, third sector members and regional stakeholders in the public and private sector.

I have over 30 years' senior management experience gained in both the private and public sector. During my career I have engaged in market development and business growth initiatives for Littlewoods Pools, Volvo Truck and Bus, Northwest Regional Development Agency, KPMG and Hill Dickinson LLP.

I have been involved in the successful delivery of change management initiatives, managed successful teams in the implementation of business development strategies for a broad base of sectors, influenced and won multi million pound investments from overseas multinationals including US Airways, Bertelsmann, Compal, JP Morgan and Bank of New York.

I studied Business and Finance at De Montfort University, CIM Diploma at Salford University and undertook a Harvard Business School Programme for Senior Management Executives.

My career was further enhanced by a secondment to Chicago targeting high growth technology sectors emerging from the US looking to establish a European base. Working with regional partners, UKTI and the consulates to attract global inward investment to the North West of England.

I enjoy skiing, salsa and spending time with family and friends. I am also an unpaid chauffeur to my teenage daughter.

My father was a Barnardo's orphan which has greatly influenced my decision to enter the charitable sector. I am humbled by the inspiring individuals I meet during my visits to community groups in the region and feel very privileged to work alongside them for the benefit of our communities.
